Pompei and Herculaneum

Pompei and Herculaneum (full day)

Pompeii and Herculaneum contain excellently preserved ruins of the cities covered by ash during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D. You can easily reach these two archaeological sites from Capri by taking the ferry which runs all day to Sorrento (20 minute sail with the fastest ferry),and then either walking 10 minutes to the train station or taking a bus or taxi. From the train station in Sorrento, take the 20 minute train ride to Pompeii and/or Herculaneum. Or, to avoid the crowds and hassle of public transportation, opt for a private car tour with a driver and guide to visit the sites in complete comfort.

Positano, Amalfi, Amalfi Coast

Positano, Amalfi, Amalfi Coast (full day)

From Capri, the legendary Amalfi Coast can quickly be reached by boat, with landings at Positano (circa 40 minutes) or Amalfi (circa 60 minutes). Direct sea connections are only available in the summer months. The Amalfi Coast can also be reached by bus from Sorrento (40 minutes to Positano; 1 hour to Amalfi). Positano is famous for its picturesque little lanes lined with boutiques selling the town’s colorful beach wear. Amalfi is dominated by its magnificent majolica domed cathedral. /strong>The medieval town of Ravello, home to Villa Ruffolo and Villa Cimbrone, is perhaps best known for its splendid gardens.
